Anita Louise Phillips

Anita Phillips, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, at the age of 68. Anita was born on September 22, 1957, in Verdun, France and grew up in the Louisburg area. She was a proud member of the last 6th grade class at Louisburg and later graduated from Buffalo High School in 1975. After completing her high school education, Anita pursued a career in health care, training as a Surgical Tech, and worked at Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia. She also trained as a Dental Hygienist at OTC, applying her passion for helping others throughout her life. Her career was as varied and full as her personal interests. She worked many years as a Postmaster Relief at the Louisburg Post Office, retiring in 2019. A dedicated worker, Anita also spent countless hours assisting with the farm alongside her husband, Bob. Although she wasn’t raised on a farm, she adapted to the challenges and rewards of farm life. She was an integral part of her family’s daily life and took great pride in their shared work, from processing their own beef to canning vegetables. Anita's hobbies and interests were as diverse as her career. A member of the Buffalo Gals, she played both the bass drum and snare, bringing rhythm and joy to local events. She was also a member of the basketball team. Anita found deep fulfillment in her service as an adult Girl Scout leader, where she inspired the younger generation to embrace the values of teamwork and service. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was saved at Cross Timbers VBS and later baptized at Louisburg First Baptist Church. In 1991, she and her family joined Buffalo United Methodist Church, where she was an active member for many years, helping to organize events like garage sales, Easter egg hunts, Vacation Bible School, and other community activities. In later years, she attended Grace Community United Methodist Church, where she continued her ministry and enjoyed fellowship with her church family. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her joyful service to others, and she will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and dedication to both her church and community. Anita's family was the center of her world. In 1979, she married her soulmate, Bob, of almost 47 years, on April 29th, at her parents’ home in Louisburg. They shared a beautiful life together, spending their years in Louisburg and on their farm. Anita was proud of her daughter Alisha, whom she fondly called her "favorite daughter" in a running joke that always brought laughter. In 2018, Anita’s joy grew even further when she became a grandmother to her only grandchild, Gawayn. Gawayn affectionately called her "Gram," a title Anita cherished deeply. She is survived by her husband Bob; one daughter, Alisha; one grandchild, Gawayn; one brother, Marty & wife Susie Garrison of Bolivar; and one sister, Teresa & husband Dale Brown of Louisburg. She also leaves many nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Beebe officiating. Interment will be in the Crudgington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home.
