Doris June Ragland

Doris June (McDaniel) Ragland was born on April 24, 1944, to Graden and Willa (Ragsdale) McDaniel near Polk, MO, and departed this life on July 7, 2026, at Lebanon South Nursing and Rehab. At the time of her passing she was 82 years, two months, and 13 days of age. Doris lived in the Long Lane and Polk area and began her schooling at Pattersonville School before moving to the Long Lane School where she attended through the 8th grade. She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1962. After graduation, she went to work at the Buffalo Dry Cleaners. Doris was saved and baptized at an early age and was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church. She was united in marriage to John W. Ragland on September 22, 1962. They shared 56 years of love and laughter while raising their two boys, Randy and Brian, on the family farm and running their dairy. In her free time, Doris liked to sew. If she saw it, she could sew it. She also enjoyed upholstery, making the couch she had for 56 years look like it was brand new. She would often use her skills to refurbish old trunks for friends and neighbors, she was always very meticulous and took great pride in her work. Doris also loved searching the ground and creek beds for arrowheads and was very good at finding them. Doris did everything with a kind heart, a gentle touch, and an abundance of patience. No matter how hard the task at hand was, she never complained about anything, even when she was sick. Doris enjoyed the simple things in life, especially cooking. She spent many hours in the kitchen making burnt sugar cake for Randy and Marty, pies for Brian and Dan, “Lellow Taters” for the grandkids, and one-turn oven fried chicken for the hay crew. Everything she did, she did with love and took pride in doing it. Doris was a very good person and always had time for anyone, whether someone wanted to visit or they were in need of help, she always had time. Doris held many titles. Baseball, softball, basketball, and rodeo grandma. She never missed a game or a chance to sew a shirt, fix a skinned knee, or pull a thorn from a backside. Doris could always make you feel better. You couldn’t have asked for a better mom, grandma, mother-in-law, sister or friend, to know her was to love her. Doris was preceded in death by her husband John and her parents. She is survived by her two boys, Randy & wife Teresa Ragland of Richland, MO and Brian & wife Lynetta Ragland of Long Lane, MO; five grandchildren, Kristina Hanson (Sandy) of South Dakota, Dustin Ragland (Taylor) of Rogersville, MO, Graden Ragland (Maddie) of Long Lane, MO, Macie Ragland Youell of Richland, MO, and Trevin Ragland of Long Lane, MO; seven great-grandchildren, Mya, Jada and Cooper Hanson, Mavrick and Berkley Ragland, and Caydee and Cambree Youell; and two brothers, Ted & wife Ruby McDaniel of Waseca, MN and Howard & wife Lois McDaniel of Florida. She also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026 in the Pisgah Baptist Church in Long Lane with Pastor Bill Autry officiating. Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Long Lane under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Hope Cemetery Fund.
