Hilda Ruth (Eldred) Wallace

Hilda Ruth (Eldred) Wallace, daughter of the late Roy and Iva (Williams) Eldred, was born on February 13, 1929 in Macks Creek, MO and departed this life on May 6, 2024 in Bolivar, MO. At the time of her passing she was 95 years, two months, and 22 days of age. Hilda was raised in Macks Creek, MO and graduated from Macks Creek High School in 1947. After graduation, she moved to Kansas City, MO where she worked for Montgomery Ward in the Mail Room. She met James Wallace and they were united in marriage on September 3, 1954 in Raytown, MO. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive her. They moved to Camden County and operated several farms before settling in Louisburg, MO. Hilda worked for Buffalo Headstart for over 25 years and enjoyed nurturing the young children of Dallas County. She attended First Baptist Church and Cherry Grove Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Hilda often said, and it was evident to all she met, that her family was the greatest joy in her life. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, James Wallace; her parents, Roy and Iva Eldred; one brother, Orie and his wife Mildred Eldred; and two nephews, Richard and Clifford Eldred. She is survived by two sons, Dennis & wife Pam Wallace of Preston, MO and David Wallace of Louisburg, MO; two daughters, Judy & husband Michael Richter of Lenexa, KS and Janet & husband Stan Vest of Louisburg, MO; eight grandchildren, Theresa & husband J. W. Slusser, James & wife Marci Richter, Jamie & husband Jerod Crump, Jared & wife Jessica Wallace, Nathan & wife Holly Wallace, Zach & wife Shannon Wallace, Weston & wife Chloe Wallace, and Ivy Wallace & husband Steven Bourret; 17, and very soon, 18 great-grandchildren; one nephew, Gerry & wife Girlen McClanahan; and two nieces, Wanda & husband Jay Bates and Carol & husband Mike Bonner. She also leaves other family members and friends who will all truly miss her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Jared Wallace officiating. Escorts will be Jared Wallace, Zach Wallace, Nathan Wallace, Weston Wallace, Steven Bourret, James Richter, J. W. Slusser, and Gavin Crump. Interment will be in the Parrack Grove Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parrack Grove Cemetery Fund.
