Margaret Jane Newell Owen

Margaret (Jane) Newell Owen passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024 at Lake Regional hospital surrounded by her family. She was 75 years, 3 months old. She was born on April 30, 1949 in Salem, MO to Frank and Margaret (Weeks) Wright. Her family moved from Eminence, MO to Lebanon, MO when she was a young child. Jane attended school in Lebanon, MO. She was a beloved member of the class of 1967. She then continued her education at Southwest Missouri State University. Jane was united in marriage to Michael A Owen on February 19, 1972 in Neosho, MO. In 1973, Michael and Jane started their family. Over the next 12 years, they welcomed 3 boys- Jeff, Jeremy and Alex. Jane’s sons brought her so much joy and purpose. Jane spent her career helping educate young parents through Parents as Teachers in Marshfield, Long Lane and Lebanon schools. Jane was able to positively impact hundreds of young families through her career. When Jane was not working, you could find her on the family dairy farm in Long Lane, MO. Jane spent many years working on the farm with her husband and 3 sons. Jane was promoted to her favorite role in 2000, when she became a grandma (Gram). Jane was a devoted grandma to 14 grandchildren. Jane was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Conway, but had been actively attending Prairie Chapel Church in Urbana, MO. Jane is survived by her husband, Michael of the home. Three siblings: Dan Wright of Columbia, MO; Susan and Sam Allen of Lebanon, MO and John and Terry Wright of Springfield, MO. Three sons: Jeff and Monica Owen of Preston, MO; Jeremy and Staci Owen of Cross Timbers, MO and Alex and Sammi Owen of Urbana, MO. Fourteen grandchildren: Ashton and Gage, Savannah, Weston, Dawson and Maddie, Parker, Kenton, Zach, Kennedi, Gunner, Kacie, Berkli and Kade. (The grandchildren are honorary pallbearers) Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 3, 2024 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets funeral home in Buffalo, MO. Visitation will be from 10:00am-11:00am Saturday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
