PATRICIA R. JACKSON Born Nov. 10, 1934. Died September 13, 2015 Resident of Cupertino Pat Jackson died peacefully in her sleep on September 13, 2015 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jim Jackson, and three children, Sr. Teresa Jackson of the St. Gertrude Benedictine Community of Cottonwood Id, Dr. Christopher Jackson of Berkeley CA and Dr. Steven Jackson of State College, Pa. Also surviving are grandchildren Shelagh Jackson of Indiana PA and Benjamin Jackson of Berkeley. She was the daughter of Byron and Crystal Rea, formerly of Buffalo and the Granddaughter of Ben and Carrie Rea, also of Buffalo. She was a graduate of Buffalo High School in 1952 She was a graduate of Missouri State University, Springfield MO and received a Master’s in Education from San Jose State University. She was an educator for most of her adult life, having taught all 8 grades in a rural school in Missouri, and elementary schools in Springfield MO and Denver Co. In California she was a speech therapist, special education administrator and Assistant Superintendent at the Whisman School District in Mountain View. She was realtor from 1984 until retirement in 2009. She was active in community affairs, having been the President of the Whisman Education Association, President of the Santa Clara County Speech and Hearing Association, President of the Cupertino Women in Business, President of the Cupertino Quota club, President of the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce and President of the Cupertino Rotary Endowment Foundation. She served on the Cupertino Library Commission and the Cupertino Architectural and Site Approval Committee. She loved books and was active in two book clubs, loved golf, travel, attending Opera San Jose, Symphony Silicon Valley and Ballet San Jose. She came from a family of educators with her father, grandfather, grandmother and two sons as educators. She and Jim Jackson have created a scholarship through the Cupertino Rotary Endowment Foundation for De Anza students wishing to attend a four year college and major in education. In lieu of flowers donations to this scholarship fund are suggested. There were graveside services on October 8 at 12:00 at Memorial Gardens in Buffalo under direction of the Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo, MO
