Pauline Elizabeth Ellin Killam Lee

Services were 1 p.m. Sept. 16 at Montgomery-Viets Chapel with Raymond Lee delivering the eulogy and a prayer by Bill Azar. Recorded selections were played. Burial was in Louisburg Cemetery under the direction of Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Escorts were David Green, Mark Lee, Christopher Sturdevant, Jason Lee, Jeremy Lee and Todd Lee. Honorary escorts were Gregory Thurman, Ronald Stone and Robert Lee. Pauline Elizabeth Ellin Killam Lee, 85, was born Dec. 27, 1925, in Hettic, Ill., the fourth child of Lester and Nellie (Davenport) Killiam. She died Sept. 12, 2011. She attended school in Hettic, Ill., where she graduated high school in 1944. As a young woman, she traveled to Alton, Ill., where she was employed by The Western Cartridge Company during World War II. It was there she met Raymond Lee, a widower with five children. They were married in July 1945. She assumed the role of mother to these five children, while over the next 15 years giving birth to nine more, all the while loving and raising them as if they were her own. Stepchild or half brother and sister were words never spoken in her house. She reared one family. Over the next 40 years they moved to Indiana, back to Illinois, Kansas and finally retired in Missouri. She was a homemaker, mother and wife first and foremost but whenever necessary would work outside the home to make ends meet. Her interest and hobbies were vast. She enjoyed her family and friends, surfing the Internet, her four-wheeler, golf, politics and her religious studies. She donated monthly to The Paralyzed Veterans of American and The American Veterans. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years; two sisters: Marjorie Lallie and Evelyn Zellin; two brothers: John Killam and Harold Killam; two children: Robert Lee and Alberta Tucker; four grandchildren: Dennis Tucker, Kerry Stone, Angelina Lee and Payton Rowan; and one great-grandchild, Michael Wentworth. Survivors include her six sons: Rolla and wife, Pam Lee, Gary and wife, Chrystal Lee, Joe Lee, Steve and wife, Paula Lee, Marvel Lee and Raymond Jr. and wife, Mary Lee; six daughters: Mary Gibbs, Violet Cave, Linda and husband, William Azar, Jeanene Lee, Pam and husband, Lyndol Sturdevant, and Melody and husband, Rick Dismang; 42 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
