Samuel Charles Hayes

Samuel Charles Hayes son of Cecil and Flossie (Vance) Hayea was born May 16, 1931 at Buffalo, Mo, and passed away Friday May 8, 2015 in the Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar at the age of 83. He was a lifelong resident of Buffalo, MO. He was saved at school after attending a revival he said he went outside and sat on a stump that's when the Lord saved him. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Buffalo. He worked for Bonner Feed Store, farmed several years for Dee, Jiggs and Lee Neil, worked at school keeping coal in the furnace. He and Pauline worked as a team cleaning MFA Store at night. He fixed tires at the Western Auto Store. He and his Dad mowed cemeteries for years. He farmed as long as his health would permit, he loved his animals, and his five dogs were like his kids and he would spoil them rotten. On Sunday afternoons he enjoyed playing horseshoes with family and friends. He loved watching boats on the lake, he enjoyed playing rook with family, he watched wrestling on tv, when he got older and his health was not as good he enjoyed setting on his porch watching cars go by or watching for deer and turkeys. His grandson could remember while helping grandpa mow cemeteries he always had ice tea in a quart jar and usually egg sandwiches and fried bologna. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife: Pauline; one daughter: Dorothy Anderson and husband Dennis; one grandson: Charles Anderson and his wife Kathy; 3 great grandchildren: Katelyn, Hunter, and Zoey; one brother: Jimmy Hayes and wife Zena; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 A.M. Monday in the Montgomery-Viets Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Skinner officiating. Music was recorded selections "The Old Rugged Cross" and " When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder" Pallbearers were: Carl Witt, Ray Witt, Brian Ainley, David Hayes, Charles Anderson, and Larry Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers were; Grant Ainley, Steven Sutton, Jerald Sutton, Jeff Cano, and Allen Canon. Burial was in the Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of the Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
