Willo Hammerbacher

Mrs, Evelyn Willo Dean (Vest) Hammerbacher was born June 11, 1930 in Buffalo, the daughter of W. W. and Oleta (Knowles) Vest. She departed this life February 12th at Mercy Hospital in Springfield after a stroke. At the time of her passing she was 86 years, 8 months and 1 day of age. She was a 1949 graduate of Buffalo High School. At the age of 17 she was saved at a church camp in Branson. After high school, she attended the Springfield school of Cosmetology. On September 12, 1954 she was united in marriage with Milfred Hammerbacher. They moved to Raytown, Missouri to live and raise a family, and she operated her own shop, Mi-Ladi Beauty Salon. Upon retirement in 1989, they moved back to Buffalo and built their home on her Uncle's farm. She was preceded in death by her parents and 8 siblings and one granddaughter, Christy Hammerbacher. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Milfred and her sons: Milfred Jr. (Spud) and wife Pat of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and Scott and wife Roberta of Buffalo; one daughter, Skyla and husband Russ Weeks of Long Lane and one "other" son Mark Zubrick of Newburg, Missouri. Two grandsons: Tyler Weeks of Hollister and companion Brittany Rinehart-Weeks of Urbana and Billy Dotson and wife Jessi of Ohio; two granddaughters: Ashley Hammerbacher of San Francisco, California and Kari and husband Ryan Lacson of Republic. Six greatgrandchildren. One brother: W.W. "Bus" Vest of Springfield, three sister-in-laws:Marie Hammerbacher of Nebraska, Georgia Hammerbacher of Kansas and Norma Vest of Buffalo. One brother-in-law: Tuff Hamlet of Louisburg and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends who will greatly miss her. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 16th at Two P.M. in the Montgomery-Viets Chapel with Scott Hammerbacher leading the service. Pallbearers will be: Tyler Weeks, Kim Vest, Randy Hammerbacher, Mike Hammerbacher, Mark Zubrick and Randy Conner. Honorary Escorts are: Larry Hammerbacher, Leroy Young, Donny Hamblin, Lendol Vest, Warren Vest, Roger King, David King, Larry King, Rex Hamlet, Tuff Hamlet, Don Roberts and Bret Palen. Interment will follow in Lindley Creek Cemetery under the direction of the Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation wiil be from 12-2 P.M. before the service.
