Dorothy Lou Allen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dorothy Lou Allen was born on March 26, 1941, in Fort Worth, Texas to Richard A. Douglas and Marcella Montez (Rhodes) Douglas. She departed this life on November 23, 2021 in Buffalo Missouri at the age of 80 years old. Dorothy met Doyle Dean Allen and they were married when she was at the young age of seventeen, and he was twenty-one. On June 24, 1960, they had their first son Jerry Dean Allen, who passed away December 1st, 2010, and on August 31, 1967 their youngest son, David Mark Allen was born. Dorothy was a florist in Texas and when her husband passed in 1997, she moved from Houston, Texas to Buffalo, Missouri. She continued to do floral work in Springfield, Missouri, but decided to work closer to home and got a job at Copper Atteberry Floral Shop in Buffalo. Dorothy attended Grace Community United Methodist Church in Buffalo and loved to sing in the choir. She loved making flower arrangements for people, even after she had stopped working at the flower shop, and she had many other crafting hobbies. Everyone knew not to call her around noon because she loved her Soap Operas. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Dean Allen; her parents, Richard A. Douglas and Marcella Montez (Rhodes) Douglas; and her son, Jerry Allen. She is survived by her brother, Richard Douglas & wife Donna of Bronte, of Texas; her son, David Allen and his children, Jenna Allen, Sierra Allen, and Samantha Turner & husband Dailyn, and their children, Kynlee Turner and Madison Turner, all of Urbana, Missouri; granddaughter, Kim Stidham & husband Donnie of Buffalo, Missouri, and children, Kailyn Hutchings and Ben Hutchings of Buffalo, Missouri; granddaughter, Jamie Allen of Buffalo, Missouri, and son, Chase Allen; grandson, Jerry Allen of Buffalo Missouri, and children, Camren Allen and Lily Allen; grandson, James Allen & wife Jennifer of Phillipsburg, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy lived a full life and loved her family and friends deeply. She was a kind person, but don’t think she wouldn’t still tell you how it is. She loved to talk about her beautiful red hair and flaunt her sparkly hats. She was referred to as “Queen Dottie” at the nursing home. People who knew her would say she was “one of a kind”; and she sure was. She will be loved and missed tremendously. She is gone, but her memory will live on forever and each photo she left behind will be cherished. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home. Cremation rites were accorded under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
