Mr. Eugene "Gene" Earl Brown
June 2, 1927 - May 2, 2020
Eugene “Gene” Earl Brown, age 92 of Buffalo, MO passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020 in the Buffalo Prairie Care Center in Buffalo, MO. He was born on June 2, 1927 to Earl and Alice (Hankey) Brown. Gene was a WWII Veteran. He was united in marriage to Imogene Jack in 1948. They moved to Buffalo in the late 50’s to a farm which he loved. Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. Driving a grain truck most of his life, he logged 7.6 million miles before retirement. He logged even more miles after retirement, as he loved to travel. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene; sister, Bessie Voris; brother, Virgil Brown; niece, Linda Brown Headley, nephew, Curtis Voris; and his companion for several years, Ida Harper. He is survived by his cousins, Maxine Vire West of Buffalo, MO, Roy Hankey of California, as well as numerous other cousins; nieces, Donna Brown DeGraffenreid of Monett, MO, Carolyn Brown Burks of Springfield, MO; and nephew, Michael Brown of Flemington (and spouses.) He also leaves multiple great-nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. Uncle Gene loved being with people, he enjoyed the great gift of gab and companionship with lots of coffee being served up! If you were his friend, you had a friend for life. He was an American Patriot and enjoyed donating to veteran’s organizations. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to donate to a veteran’s charity or a charity of your choice. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2020 in the Schofield Cemetery in Schofield, MO with Bro. Dusty Armstrong officiating. Escorts will be Larry Shockley, Brad Shockley, Carl Gann, Joe Anderson, Greg Armstrong, and Greg McKinney. Honorary escorts will be Raymond Sergent, Ora Hostetler, Tony Henderson, and Hollis Henderson. Services are under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Uncle Gene, being the sociable person that he was, would want us all to be safe. Thus, we respectfully and sadly request, at this time, no hugs or handshakes. We will save those for a later time, along with all the stories we would love to hear.
