George William Gillispie Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

George William Gillispie, age 74, of Buffalo, Missouri was born on April 4, 1946 in Blackwell, OK to Alva W. and Ersa B. (Lippincott) Gillispie. He arrived in the arms of Jesus on Saturday, October 10, 2020 in the Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. George was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandpa. George served in the Marines for his Country in Vietnam. George knew the Lord and loved him faithfully. he attended Mt. Pleasant Southern Baptist Church, Elkland, MO. and was always there an hour before the doors were open preparing for services. He held the office of Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent and treasurer for many years as well as anything else that needed attending to. He was a hard worker and an example to follow. He loved life and his family especially his grandchildren which he treasured. He was the families rock and they always looked to him for guidance. George was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Martin, David, and John Gillispie; and one sister, Doris Gillispie. He is survived by his wife, Christine; one son, Clint & wife Mae Gillispie of Buffalo, MO; two daughters, Cindy & husband Mike Dill, of Elkland, MO and Alicia & husband Steve West of Windyville, MO one sister, Jo An Beemer of Winfield, KS; one brother, Joe Gillispie of Buffalo, MO; seven grandchildren, Cody West, Kevin Dill, Makayla Baza, Kahl Gillispie, Kyla Gillispie, Jadyn West, and Katelyn Gillispie; and four great-grandchildren, Mason West, Luna Dill, Logan Dill, and Luna Baza. He was loved and will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Bro. Russell Adams officiating. Escorts will be Steve West, Kahl Gillispie, Mike Dill, Kevin Dill Buddy Jasper, and Lynn Howe. Honorary escorts will be his grandchildren and the members of the VFW Post 4080. Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the VFW Post 4080 in Buffalo, MO.
