Kalen Donnell Lee Barclay

May 27, 1996 - June 5, 2021

Kalen Donnell Lee Barclay was born May 27th, 1996 in Springfield, MO and left this earth on June 5, 2021. Kalen came into this world during a tornado, earning him the nickname “Twister” for many years, and he definitely lived his life like a tornado-wild and free. He grew up between Springfield and Tunas, attending school at both Skyline and Springfield, but eventually graduated high school in Nixa, MO, 2014. While on the farm in Tunas, he spent most of his time with his Papa, hunting, fishing, feeding cows, whatever Papa did, Kalen wanted to be a part of it; even though she didn’t always get the credit, his Memaw was also one of his favorite people in the whole world and he spent many a night, cuddled up, watching movies with her. He also loved hanging with Aunt Kali and Uncle Cody. He enjoyed bringing many friends to the farm over the years and sharing the “country” with them. He was a true Mama’s boy and they created many memories together, too many to share, but he definitely got his big heart and kindness from her. Kalen was definitely the best big brother that Brady could have, they had formed a bond that will never be broken. He spent as much time with him as he could, always willing to jump one more time or just “Hang out Bro”. He loved his brothers and sister, talked about them often and always wished he could have spent more time with them. He had the biggest smile and heart that you could ever know and although he did have dark times in his life, he had many of light-he always knew that there was a higher power and that is what he always leaned on and yearned to share with others. He was saved at James River Church, Ozark, MO and baptized at Hopewell Freewill Baptist, Tunas, MO in the creek, just like he wanted. One of his biggest wishes in life was to start a non-profit for those facing addiction and those that didn’t know the Lord. Kalen was definitely a free spirit and spoke his mind about whatever it was he believed in. He had a passion in him that will be truly missed by those that love him. Kalen was a true friend to all of those that knew him, he loved big and you knew it. If you had the honor of knowing his love, friendship and loyalty-you will never forget it. Although we will never understand the circumstances around his passing, he would definitely want us all to keep our heads up, stay up and he would be telling us: “Let’s GO!!!” He is at peace now and would want that for all of you. So always remember him and keep his memory alive through love, friendship and storytelling, because as you all know, he always had a good story to tell. Kalen leaves behind his mother Kayla, step dad Brad and brother Brady Vernatti, Ozark, MO. His Memaw and Papa, Pete and Julane Barclay, Tunas, and Rex and Janet Vernatti, Ozark, Aunts and Uncles: Kali and Cody Howe, Tunas, Matt and Erin Vernatti, Ozark, Tim Vernatti, Ozark, Scott and Julie Shadwick, Ozark, Kenny and Mary Vernatti, Ozark, his father Donnie Lee, AR, grandparents Mary and Roger Terrell and Betty Cave, step mother Traci Sinn and brothers Darrion and Dalen and sister Daesha Lee, Ozark, many cousins and a host of many other extended family and friends. Preceded in death by Gene Cave, grandfather. The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away. Kevin Gates A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, Missouri with the Rev. Tony Butcher officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am right before the service under the direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo, Missouri. In lieu of flower Memorials may be made to Kalen's mom Kayla Barclay Vernatti for Brady and Ella.
