Margaret Irene Parks, daughter of the late Melvin and Rena Margaret (Arrowsmith) Harwood was born on September 19, 1926 in Omaha, NE and departed this life on January 19, 2020 in Buffalo, MO. At the time of her passing she was 93 years, three months, and 29 days of age. Margaret grew up in Guthrie Center, IA where she attended grade school at Baker #9 School and then attended South High in Omaha, NE. After her schooling, she went to work in a bakery and the Campbell Soup Factory for a short time. She was united in marriage to Oscar Parks on February 15, 1947 and to this union five children were born, four of whom survive her. She enjoyed taking care of their home while raising their children. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, talking with her friends, and traveling with Oscar. She went back to work in 1975 for Oxford Home Health Care, and later for the Army Corp of Engineers working at Truman Lake and Pomme de Terre Lake. After retiring, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Oscar; her parents; one son, Melvin Parks; one great-grandson, Oscar Lawrence Dennison; and four brothers, Merle, Jerry, Norman, and Arnold Harwood. She is survived by her children, Steven Parks of Fair Play, MO, Dayton Parks of Yuma, AZ, Owen & wife Sandra Parks of Fairplay, MO, and Margaret & husband Randall Jones of Buffalo, MO; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Harwood of Buffalo, MO. She also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Union Home Cemetery with Bro. Jim Forsee officiating. Escorts will be Deryck Parks, Nathan Parks, Leroy Brown, Keith Parks, Steven Anthony Parks, and Kyle Richardson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Union Home Cemetery Fund.
