February 1, 1926 - June 19, 2021
Marjorie Johnson, daughter of the late Alfred and Nola (Ray) Yeager, was born on February 1, 1926 in Cross Timbers, MO, and departed this life on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at her home in Long Lane, MO. Marjorie graduated from Warsaw High School. The day after graduations, she left Warsaw on a bus headed for Kansas City, MO where she lived with her aunt and went to work in a glove factory. She later left the glove factory and went to work at a Lee Wald Garment Company. While at Lee Wald, she met a sewing machine mechanic named Norvin Johnson. Three months later, they were married on June 28, 1946, and from this union five children were born. Marjorie loved cooking for her family and friends, but especially loved making her grandchildren’s favorite deserts. She also enjoyed camping, traveling, and sewing. She could sew anything from an apron to the fanciest wedding dress. She was an amazing cook, wife, and friend, but her famous role in life was being a mom and grandma, not only to her own biological children, but to any kid that walked through her door. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Norvin; her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary & Leon Rapp; one grandson, David Lee Williams; one son-in-law, Bob Gaston; and her special friends, Harold & Ann Hoskins and Bob & Linda Andrews. She leaves behind her five children, Jan Gaston of Lebanon, MO, Nola & husband Jim Howard of Springhill, KS, John & wife Gayla Johnson of Lebanon, MO, Denise & husband Jim Bethurem of Brighton, MO, and Julia & husband Jerry Owens of Long Lane, MO; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Marjorie was a wonderful wife, loving mother, devoted grandmother, and a loyal friend. She taught her children to stand firm in tough times, to love everyone, and to be thankful for what God has given to them. We will miss her, but she will live through us and our stories of her.
