March 14, 1964 - December 2, 2019
Terry James Hildebrandt was born to Thomas R. and Sandra L. Hildebrandt on March 14, 1964 in Enid Oklahoma and left this earth for Life in Eternity on December 2, 2019. At the time of his departure from his worldly post on Earth, he was 55 years, 8 months and 4 days. Terry was preceded in death by his father Thomas Hildebrandt and his father-in-law William (Bill) Shipley. He is survived by his wife Jan (Janice Shipley) of Buffalo, MO; his mother, Sandra Tomlin of Midway, AR; two sons Cory & wife Candice of Buffalo MO and Cary & wife Amanda & their daughter Adelaide of Springfield, MO; one daughter, Kati & husband Shawn Jones & their boys Micheal, Issac, Paul & Samuel of Elkland, MO; two brothers, Steve & wife Julie of Emory, TX and David & wife Angela of Le Claire IA; mother-in-law, Mary Shipley of Buffalo MO; brother-in-law, Wayne Shipley & wife Peggy; sisters-in-law Vicki Rohm, Barbara McIntyre and Gina Hildebrandt, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends that will deeply miss him. Terry was raised in Le Claire until he was 14, then Pleasant Valley, IA where he graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in May of 1982. He moved to Dallas Texas the day after his graduation as he intended to do for many years but maintained his friendship with Jan. Later in the year they married and on December 31, 1982 in Rock Island Il a lifelong romance was made official. They made their home in Dallas where all three of the children were born. He joined the Army in 1986, then they relocated to Fort Benning Ga for 4 years before returning to Texas. In 1994 the opportunity to relocate to Missouri arose and both Terry and Jan were excited to start their lives in the Show Me State. Terry spent his career as a professional truck driver where he logged an impressive accident free 1.75 million miles and achieved several safety awards for his outstanding record. Terry's kids and grandkids were the highlight of Terry's life and gave him the strength to push forward daily. He always enjoyed spending time in the hustle and bustle of life with kids, and thoroughly enjoyed the noise of family gatherings. On his last articulate day, he wanted all the kids around him running and playing, stating it was more relaxing to hear all the kids than to sit in the quiet of the nursing home. He enjoyed Thanksgiving Day at home with family surrounding him with 17 kids ages 1.5-13 running around the house all day! Terry spent the last 10 years with serious medical issues of which the last 5 were fought hard on dialysis with multiple health issues. Terry never gave up, he was a true fighter, but on December 2, 2019, God made him an offer he could not refuse, and he will forever spend his days with a new body (and a never-ending bucket of suckers handing them to all the children in Heaven). Terry wouldn’t have wanted the obituary to run long, he would rather have everyone spend their time loving on one another and remembering his life, not thinking about the week's events. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the Pisgah Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Autry officiating. Escorts will be Cory Hildebrandt, Cary Hildebrandt, Shawn Jones, Steve Hildebrandt, David Hildebrandt, and Wayne Shipley. Honorary escorts will be Micheal Jones, Issac Jones, Paul Jones, Samuel Jones, and Adelaide Hildebrandt,. Interment will be in the Fraker Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pisgah Baptist Church Building Fund or the Buffalo High School Football Team. QUOTE: Cousins Thanksgiving on Saturday ended with Bill blessing the evening with a prayer and Terry's last lucid comment was "Hey everyone, listen, just because the prayer is over doesn’t mean the party is over!"
