Mr. Virgil William Sutton
June 15, 1933 - February 26, 2019
Virgil William Sutton, son of the late Harmon and Nada (Paylor) Sutton was born on June 15, 1933 in Louisburg, Missouri, and departed this life on February 26, 2019 at his home near Louisburg, Missouri. At the time of his passing he was 85 years, 8 months, and 10 days of age. Virgil was reared and attended school near Wheatland and Urbana. After his schooling, he enlisted in the United States Army and served for two years in Korea. After his service he began driving a truck, but soon decided to reenlist in the Army. He served two tours in Vietnam and retired after 20 years. He held several jobs over the years including operating a convenience store, custom hay baling, siding installer, and a truck driver for Potter Transport. He also enjoyed working on lawnmowers in his spare time. He was united in marriage to Debra Paylor on August 22, 1992 in Louisburg, MO. Virgil was preceded in death by his first wife Gladys; one son, David Sutton; one daughter, Diana Sutton; and one sister, Nancy Maybary. He is survived by his wife Debra of the home; two sons, Denis Sutton of Tunas, MO and William Sutton of Edwards, MO; two brothers, Vincent Sutton of Kentucky and Charles Sutton of Louisburg, MO; three sisters, Isabell Cotton of Edwards, MO, Marietta Spice of Buffalo, MO, and Thelma Tindle of Windyville, MO; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss him. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Pastor David Van Bebber officiating. Escorts will be Steve Kenall, Ike Griffin, Johnny Stepp, Dexter Romo, Tim Romo, Tinker Jones, and J.P. Romo. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Mission Ridge Cemetery under the direction of the Cantlon Otterness and Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
