Clara Faye Davison

Clara Faye (Mahaffey) Davison, 102, was born October 25, 1921 in Apachie, Oklahoma, the daughter of Greene and Etta (Harmon) Mahaffey. She died May 19, 2024. She was saved and baptized at a young age and attended Cherry Grove Baptist Church with her family. She later became a member of the First Baptist Church of Buffalo. She was a faithful, Christian woman. She was united in marriage with Glenn Davison on January 24, 1942, in Ventura, Calif. They were married almost 73 years at the time of Glenn’s passing in 2015. To their union, two children were born, Sherry Ann and Larry Glenn. Clara attended school her first five years in Oklahoma before her family moved back to northern Dallas County. She attended Boodler school for two years and then Tunas High School, graduating in 1941. She excelled in speech competitions, winning first place each year. She could still recite her favorite Bible passage, the 23rd Psalm. It was at these speech competitions that she met her husband, Glenn. They were married right before he volunteered to enlist in the Army in 1942. She worked at Kretskies Five and Dime Store in Flint, Michigan while Glenn was stationed there. After Glenn’s discharge in 1946, they lived in Springfield and Joplin before moving to Buffalo to started the family business, Davison TV and Appliance Sales and Service in 1951. She worked in the store, as well as maintained a home for family. “Grandma Clara” loved spending time with her family for holidays and birthday parties, always preparing delicious meals and cookies or brownies. She was a wonderful seamstress and also knitted and crocheted. She enjoyed gardening and shopping with a few close friends. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Davison; her daughter, Sherry Ann (Davison) Roderick; a great-grandson, Nathan Bruce Duff; four brothers, Floyd, Charlie, Jim, and Eugene and three sisters Ines, Cleo, and Marie. She is survived by a son, Larry Davison and wife, Ruby, Buffalo; and son-in-law, Donald Roderick, Halfway. Grandchildren Janet Duff and husband, Brad, Tunas; Deborah Dryer, Buffalo; Dan Roderick, and wife, Theresa, Goodson; Jay Roderick and wife, Kayla, Halfway; Jasmine Henderson and husband, Dusty, Chesterfield; and Dylan and wife, Melissa, John’s Island, South Carolina. Great-grandchildren Julie (Sam) Vance, Holly Duff, Jessica (Colton) Salmons, Calvin (Jamie) Dryer, Hannah (Andrew) Jackson, Caleb Roderick, Jacob (Brooklyn) Roderick, Layla Henderson, Micah Davison, Luke Davison, Mia Davison, and Ellie Davison. Great, great grandchildren Leah and Cora Vance, Cameron and Kennedy Salmons, Hadley and Whitley Dryer, and Gracely and Arlo Jackson. Special thanks to devoted caregivers Naomi Reed and Dennis Kelly. Thank you for the loving care shown to her over the past year by Dennis for always making brownies and bringing milkshakes and Naomi for watching unlimited episodes of Andy Griffith and making potato soup. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Dryer officiating. Escorts will be Dan Roderick, Jay Roderick, Brad Duff, Calvin Dryer, Dylan Davison, and Dusty Henderson. Interment will be in the Louisburg Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Louisburg Cemetery.
