Dan William Howard, Jr.

It is with heavy hearts and enormous sadness that we announce the passing of Our beloved Son Dan William Howard Jr. A life that was just beginning unexpectedly cut short on July 6, 2026. Dan Jr was the Son of Dan and Melissa (Peterson) Howard. Born on November 7, 2007 at St John’s Hospital, Springfield, MO. A lifetime resident of Urbana, Mo. Dan was a beloved Son, brother, nephew, cousin, grandson and friend. From the moment he was born Dan brought immense joy to everyone around him. As a child Dan had a spark that lit up every room he walked into. Dan was full of energy, curiosity, and laughter. Always ready to explore the world, and fiercely protective of those he loved. Dan loved being outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, & hot rods. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. As a teenager one of his greatest joys was working on ‘Ole Blue’, his 1985 Chevy that was left to him from his Grandpa Marvin. Dan, along side his dad, spent countless hours bringing Ole Blue back to life. He enjoyed driving around jamming to music and burning rubber. Dan was the definition of “big brother”; protector, confidant, and partner-in-crime. His younger brother Gage can attest to this, as well as cousin Savanna who was nearest a sister to him. Dan was a 2026 Graduate of Skyline High School. A loyal friend who was know for always being there for them. Known at school as, “someone who always knew how to make someone's day when they were having a hard day, always the funniest but quietest guy in the room.” He will be cherished and loved by his friends forever. Dan was preceded in life by both sets of grandparents. Marvin and Kathy Howard & Danny and Lindy Eagleburger. Three uncles and numerous other family members. Dan is succeeded by his parents Dan & Melissa Howard, younger brother Gage Peterson, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and special people in his life. A celebration of life is planned to honor Dan on July 26th at The O'Bannon Bank Community Room Located at 1347 South Ash Buffalo, Mo. Family and friends are encouraged to gather from 2- 5 pm. Celebration will include a pot luck and anyone that made a favorite dish of Dan’s is encouraged to bring it. We also plan to go fishing in memory of Dan following the celebration of life. Location will be determined and announced day of celebration. Please come and join us and share a special memory you have of Dan. The family would like to bring attention to mental health struggles and/or thoughts of self harm or suicide. Not only does this need more awareness everyday, but especially today. If anyone today is struggling we want you to know you are not alone. We love you. We care about you.
