David Ray Owens

David Ray Owens of Tunas, Missouri went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 15th, 2015 at the age of 68 years. David was home surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. The son of Stephen William and Mayme June Ricker Owens, David was united in marriage to Janet Kay White on August 29, 1968. From their union of 46 years they were blessed with two sons, Michael David Owens and Brian Ray Owens. David worked as a welder for many years in Linn Creek, Missouri for Jay Manufacturing. Later he worked in the carpentry industry for some time before retiring. David loved the Lord and was saved at a young age. In recent years he recommitted his life and was baptized at Cherry Grove in Tunas, Missouri. David is survived by his wife Janet of the home, son Michael and Paula Owens of Tunas, MO, Brian and Rhonda Owens of Eldridge, MO. Grandchildren, Ashley and husband Trenton Berry, Stephani Barrett, Mikey, Justen, Kayle, Emily and Samantha Owens; and one great-grandchild, Brodee Barrett. Brothers Leroy and wife Brenda Owens of Iberia, MO, Calvert and wife Linda Owens of Macks Creek, MO; Sisters Barbara Nations of Branch, MO, Evelynn and Jimmy Goldsberry of Climax Springs, MO, Gladys and Jerry Lewis of Colorado, Phyllis McDaniel of Eldon, MO, and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Stephen William and Mayme June Ricker Owens; brothers Stephen William “Junior” Owens and Richard Lee Owens; sister Maxine Hoppe; nephews Stephen Darrell Owens and Marty Paul McDaniel. Graveside Services for David will be held on Saturday, March 14th, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in Tunas, MO at the Hopewell Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a lunch following the service in the home of Janet Owens in Tunas. . Arrangements are under the direction of Montgomery Viets Funeral Home.
