Donnie "Bosco" L. Poynter

Donnie "Bosco" Poynter was born on May 14, 1940, he was the twin son of Roy Poynter and Inez (Bishop) Poynter. He was born in Springfield, Missouri. He died at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 7 days on March 21, 2017 in his home surrounded by his children. Bosco was united in marriage to Elaine (Dillard) Poynter on July 10, 1971 and to this union were born four children: Donald, Michele, Thomas and Shawna, whom he loved dearly. He raised his family to serve the Lord and to work hard. He was saved as a young boy at Bible Baptist Church where his family attended. Later he moved his membership to New Hope Baptist, where he became a Charter Member. He loved his Lord and had many duties in the Church throughout the years. One he enjoyed the most was teaching Sunday School. His greatest joy was being on his backhoe or working beside the boys in the family business that they built together. Donnie was a 50 year Mason and a member of the Macks Creek and Buffalo Masonic Lodges. He also served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. Donnie is survived by his wife Elaine, son Donald and and wife Stacy, daughter Michele Uptegrove and husband Tim, son Thomas and wife Stacy and daughter Shawna Moriarty and husband Justin. His greatest joys were his grandchildren: Lily, Clint, Mackenna, Cole and Emarie Poynter, Tanner and Mya Uptegrove and Evan and Easton Moriarty. He is also survived by his sister, Carol June Miller and brother-in-law John Dillard and wife Helen, and a host of nieces and nephews who will sadly miss him. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Inez Poynter, his twin brother Lonnie Poynter and his brother Alfred Poynter. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 24th at 10 A.M. at the New Hope Baptist Church with Rev's. Richard Prater and Tom Augustine officiating. Music selections were "Life's Railway to Heaven," by Richard Dunlap and recorded selections of "The Wheel" and "Lead Me Home." Pallbearers were Hosea Clemmons, Tom Augustine, Lyle Mankey, Joshua Poynter, Andrew Poynter and Mike Popp. Honorary Escorts were Jimmy Miller, Rick Wright, David Phillips and Waynee Bartee. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation and Masonic Rites will be Thursday evening at the Funeral Home from 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
