Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Bellview Cemetery near Springfield, with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Earls officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Escorts are Gary Wall, Steve Kapica, Bryon Kapica, Terry Turner, David Loveland and Bryson Kapica. Honorary escorts are Harry King and Tommy Kapica. Ellen (Glenn) King, 98, along with her twin sister Helen, was born May 25, 1913, in Springfield, the daughters of George C. and Pearl (Randles) Glenn. She died Sept. 17, 2011. As a young woman she worked at the Springfield Laundry. She was married to Myrl B. King on July 28, 1936. She loved collecting Barbie dolls and was just a girl at heart; she always said that the best medicine for her was to get a new fancy Barbie. She just purchased her last 2011 Christmas Barbie two days before she died and will take it with her. She was one of the first members of the Hillbilly Garden Cub of Springfield. She always raised flowers and this year was the first that she was without a garden. She lived on the same street in Springfield for 67 years before moving to Buffalo 10 years ago. She loved living in Buffalo and having such wonderful neighbors and church friends at Calvary Chapel. She enjoyed the Red Hat group that she belonged to and the historical society meetings that she attended. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Myrl, who was an engineer on the Frisco Railroad; her twin sister, Helen and husband, Burl Hamilton; sisters: Jesse Glen, Gwendolyn and husband, Ed Sanders, and Georgie and husband, Everett Appleby; brothers: Bert and wife, Eunice Glenn, Clyde and wife, Pearl Glenn, and Howard and wife, Erma Glen; a grandson, Michael John King; and a great-granddaughter, Tiffany Leigh Kapica. Survivors include her sister, Hazel Corbin, Springfield; her son, Harry and wife, Mary King, Springfield; her daughter, Linda and husband, Tommy Kapica, Buffalo; grandchildren: Steve and Desree Kapica, Bolivar, and Bryon and Kayla Kapica, Buffalo; great-grandchildren: Eleena King, Bryson Kapica, Keeleigh Kapica and Mickell King; and many special nephews, nieces and friends that she has known. She was a loving family woman and will be truly missed.
