Services were 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at Montgomery-Viets Chapel with Bro. Dusty Armstrong and Bro. Dennis Skinner officiating. Great-grandchildren Darby Armstrong, Dakota Johnson and Addy Page Armstrong sang, “Amazing Grace” and Mount Pleasant singers sang, ”Tell My Sisters,” “Sweet By and By” and “Precious Memories.” Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo. Escorts were Justin Johnson, Dusty Armstrong, Shawn Holt, Jacob Jones, Jay Jones, Jeremy Armstrong and Jay Ayers. Honorary escorts were Billy Joe Armstrong, Jackie Armstrong, Buddy Armstrong, Benny Armstrong and Dale Armstrong. James Charles (J.C.) Armstrong was born Nov. 11, 1931, at Fair Grove, the son of Vie Oren and Leona (Tindle) Armstrong. He died Oct. 9, 2009, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 28 days. He was united in marriage with Ruby Jean Brown on June 3, 1956. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He lived in Louisburg before moving to Kansas City for work. After retiring he spent the last 24 years on his farm at Louisburg. He had told his children that he was saved in 1971. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby Jean, on Jan. 26, 1985; a granddaughter, Cassie Armstrong; three brothers: Howard Lee, Dean and Gary; a sister, Ima June; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy and Betty Armstrong; his father-in-law, Otho Brown; and a son-in-law, Dale Jones. Survivors include his five children: Gregory and wife, Dewanna Kay Armstrong, Buffalo, Vickie and husband, Steve Holt, Belton, Joyce Bennett and Mark Bellinghousen, Grandview, Steven and wife, Dianne Armstrong, Belton, and Sandra Jones, Kansas City; five brothers: Billy Joe and wife, Dorthy Armstrong, Freeman, Buddy and wife, Helen Armstrong, Springfield, Jackie Armstrong, Cameron, Benny Armstrong, Oregon, and Dale and wife, Jeri Armstrong, Beaver Lake, Ark.; three sisters: Mary Ann and husband, Ralph Gorman, Maryland, Linda Graves, Harrisonville, and Marie and husband, Don Chandler, Springfield; a special friend, Pauline Osborn, Buffalo; his mother-in-law, Vinnie Brown, Buffalo; a sister-in-law, Pauline Brown, Buffalo; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
