Nancy J. Dawson

Nancy Jean Dawson, 73, of Macks Creek, MO, peacefully departed this life on September 30, 2015 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born March 12, 1942 in Laclede, MO, the daughter of John Eugene Collins and Esther Mae (Stark) Collins. Nancy was raised on a farm near Linneus, MO and attended school in Brookfield, MO. As the oldest of 12, she was often called on to be a caregiver to her sisters and brothers. Nancy's first first employment was at BMA in Kansas City, MO where she excelled in payroll and other detailed office procedures. Nancy spoke often of her work at Modine and the friends she made while working there. She was a member of the Branch Homemakers Club of Macks Creek. She also loved attending her S&B sewing circle, where she sewed quilt blocks and enjoyed the fellowship of her women friends. An avid sports fan, she loved watching football and other sports on TV. She was also a strong supporter of Honor Flight. Nancy is survived by eight sisters and two brothers: Connie L. Collins of Kansas City, MO, Mary Ann Walsh and husband, Ronnie of Claycomo, MO, Betty J. Buswell and husband Steven of Lathrop, MO, Kathy L. McNally of Montgomery, AL, Patty L. Daniels and husband Mark of Excelsior Springs, MO, Debra K. Niemeier and husband Keven of Holt's Summit, MO, Nina R. Hodges of Kearney, MO, John F. Collins and wife Angie of Brookfield, MO, Pamela D. Whetro of Kansas City, MO, and James B. Collins of Kansas City, MO; eighteen nieces and nephews: Tanya E. Rennelis, Rhonda and Rachel Walsh, Scott and Nick Buswell, Curt and Sean McNally, Mindy and Travis Niemeier, Ryan and Rachel Hodges, Desiree Pezley, Damon, Derrick, Daylon and Dexter Collins, and Eric and Mike Wattenburger, and several aunts and uncles as well as numerous cousins. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Larry Dawson. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 9th at 3:30 p.m. in the Montgomery-Viets Chapel in Buffalo, MO, with Rev. Tony Butcher officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 to Service time. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Tunas, MO. under direction of the Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church or to the Honors Flight program.
