Patsy Jean McCarthy

Patsy Jean (Rogers) McCarthy passed away on February 19, 2017 at her home after an ongoing battle with a chronic illness. She was born on July 9, 1940 in Dallas County and was the youngest child of Rudolphus O. Rogers and Erma (Austin) Rogers. Patsy graduated from Buffalo High School in 1958. She married Lynn O’Bannon Hawkins at the age of twenty and to this union two children were born. After the death of Lynn, she married Doyle Nimmo and they had a daughter. She then married Donnie McCarthy. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Donald Junior Rogers, her late husband, Donnie McCarthy, and grandson, James (Jim) Proctor Hawkins III. She is survived by her children, Bradley Hawkins, Angelia (Hawkins) Owens and husband Mike and Devona (Nimmo) Allen and husband Jeff; granddaughters, Brooke Wolfe and husband Josh, Sammie McCracken and husband Chris, Casey Cox and husband Zach, and Loryn Barclay; four great-grandchildren, Abi, Ava, and Cooper Wolfe and Rush Cox; one brother, Arnold Rogers and wife Esther, and two sisters, Naomi Richerson and Christene Floyd. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, family and friends, along with a few very special women who helped care for her. Patsy was a devoted member of the First Christian Church in Buffalo, MO where she enjoyed singing in the choir and played an active role in the C.W.F. Throughout her life, she was no stranger to the working world. For several years, she worked at O’Bannon Banking Co. prior to her and Donnie opening and operating McCarthy Drilling. Over the course of her life, she enjoyed various outdoor activities, such as being at the lake, motorsports, horses, and working in her yard. She loved her family, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was an avid Elvis fan. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Christian Church on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the Slagle Cemetery in Slagle Mo. with the Rev. Tim Case officiating. Music will be "Gospel of Grace" sung by Tim Case and "Beautiful Isle Of Somewhere". Pallbearers will be Mike Owens, Jeff Allen, Josh Wolfe, Chris McCracken, Zach Cox, and Glen Scott under the direction of Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will also be held at the church beginning at 1:00 PM prior to the funeral. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Buffalo in lieu of flowers.
