Ralph Clinton Sweaney

Ralph C Sweaney was born on April 13, 1943. He passed on February 03, 2025 at 81 years old. Ralph grew up in Buffalo, MO. From a young age he had a strong work ethic and worked on the family farm all the way until he graduated from Buffalo High School. After high school he went on to serve in the Air Force for several years, met his first wife and had 2 beautiful daughters, Deborah and Sarah Sweaney. In 1979 Ralph married Martha (Burr) Sweaney and gained 3 bonus children, Brad Davis, Julie (Michael) Woodward, and David (Barb) Davis. He was a loving husband to Martha and together they lived a quiet life they enjoyed in retirement, after more than 30 years working at Bausch and Lomb. Anyone who knew him knew how much he loved his children and how proud he was of their accomplishments, even though they may have given him some trouble as teenagers! He was a loving grandfather to his many grandchildren, Kirstie (Brian) Mullins, Ashley Krueger, Blake Davis, Brian Davis, Caleb Woodward, Matthew Yarbrough, Noah Woodward, Grace Woodward, Jeremiah Woodward, Madelyn Woodward, Lily Woodward and Great Grandchildren, Harper and Max Mullins. Those who knew him closely knew that although he was reserved, he was fierce in his convictions, enjoyed lovingly bickering with his wife, enjoyed gardening, cooking, tinkering around in the house or garage, building things with his hands, reading in and watching Old Western movies. He will be missed by many. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Deryl, Carol Ray, Bobby, Donald Lee, and Harold Lesley; and one sister, Diane Scrivener. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Freddie and Floyd. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Bro. Dwayne Rose officiating. Interment will be in the Riverview Sweaney Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Shriner’s Hospital.
